The Winter Love Blanket – A Gorgeous Christmas Crochet Pattern
The Winter Love Blanket is a celebration of winter, snuggling up with a hot drink, keeping warm, and spending time with loved ones.
The colourwork pattern is reminiscent of fair isle jumpers whilst the hearts, snowy bobbles, and winter trees, evoke the magic of winter. This is the perfect project to crochet during chilly evenings.
The blanket uses simple tapestry crochet along with some fun contrasting colored bobbles. Both methods are explained in the pattern and there are links to some tapestry crochet video tutorials if you’re new to this technique.

The Pattern Details
Yarn
I used Drops Nepal yarn to make my blanket. This is an aran weight yarn made of 65% wool and 35% alpaca. It’s really soft and warm and comes in a gorgeous selection of shades.
Each ball weighs 50g and contains 75m of yarn.
I used:
- Denim Blue (6314) – 16 balls
- Blush (8912) – 5 balls
- Off White (0100) – 3 balls
- Light Grey Blue (7120) – 3 balls
If you would like to substitute for a different yarn, I’d suggest looking at other aran weight wool or acrylic yarns.
Crochet Hook
I used a 5 mm (US size H) hook.
Gauge
14 stitches and 10 rows over 10 cm in dc (US terms) or tr (UK terms)
I recommend making the first few rounds of the pattern with your chosen yarn and adjusting your hook size up or down if needed.

Size
The blanket is square and measures 130 cm x 130 cm.

Tapestry Crochet
The blanket is made using the tapestry crochet technique. This involves working with two colors at once. The unused yarn is carried along with the stitches made over it until it is needed again.
