Designer.
Teacher.
Maker.
Catherine is a crochet designer and teacher based in Surrey, England. Her work focuses on blankets — tapestry crochet, distinctive colourwork patterns, and projects that are genuinely worth the time they take. The aim has always been the same: designs worth making, and teaching that makes them feel achievable.
Designed to be made. Made to be kept. The Work
Designs worth making. Blankets worth keeping.
Blankets are at the heart of everything. Designs that feel visually striking but remain achievable — tapestry crochet, considered colour placement and stitches that add interest without unnecessary complexity.
Every pattern begins with a first swatch and ends with final photography. In between: experimenting with colour, refining construction, testing against real making sessions, and ensuring the instructions are as clear as the design is beautiful.
Before any design is released, it’s tested against the questions that matter most to a maker:
A well-designed blanket should feel steady and satisfying to work on — growing in a way that keeps you engaged, without ever feeling overwhelming.

The Teaching
Calm, practical,
and confidence-building.
All patterns have detailed written instructions, with notes, explanations and guidance woven throughout. Most are also supported by video tutorials on YouTube covering key techniques.
Over the years, guides on blanket sizing, yarn choice, stitch technique, colourwork and colour selection have grown into a teaching library that helps makers understand not just what to do — but why it works.
Video & Written
Every key technique is covered in two ways — a written guide and a video tutorial on YouTube — so you can learn in whichever format suits you best.
UK & US Terms
Patterns are available in both UK and US crochet terminology, clearly marked — no guessing, no converting mid-project.
Independently Tested
Patterns pass through a team of makers before release. Instructions are refined until they are genuinely clear — not just technically correct.
In-Person Workshops
Occasional local workshops at the Hive Design Studio in Surrey — face-to-face teaching, a different kind of learning.
Direct Support

Inspiration & Everyday Life
“Many of my design ideas take shape during quiet walks — or sitting with a cup of tea and a growing pile of yarn beside me.”
I live in Surrey with my husband and two daughters. Outside of crochet, I enjoy reading, walking in the countryside, and paying attention to colours and patterns in ordinary places. Much of my design inspiration comes from patterns in the world around me — in nature, tiles, and textiles. I’m always noticing repeat structures and colour combinations, and that’s what finds its way into my work.
