8 Fun Blanket Crochet-Alongs (CALs) for 2025
Crochet-Along: Join A Cozy Crafting Community
Crochet-alongs (CALs) are fun and exciting events that bring crocheters together from around the world to create a common project, quite often a blanket. You can join a community of fellow crocheters, working on the same pattern at the same time. CALs are like virtual crafting parties that offer a fun way to learn new techniques, stay motivated, and make new yarn-loving friends.
These group projects come in all shapes and sizes. Some last a few weeks, while others span several months. The best part? You’re never alone in your crochet journey.
CALs come in many forms, on various platforms or websites, but a common component they share is bringing crocheters together for encouragement and support. You can ask questions, share your progress, and cheer on other participants. It’s like having a virtual crochet club right at your fingertips!
Spring is a great time to start a new blanket crochet-along. You can challenge yourself to learn a new technique or just have fun crocheting along with like-minded crafters.
Read on to learn about EIGHT fabulous crochet blanket CALs taking place in 2025, and choose which might be the one for you.
1. The Hearts and Flowers Blanket CAL
The granny-tastic retro Hearts and Flowers Blanket is designed by Sharna of Sweet Sharna and is hosted by the UK yarn company Sirdar. It’s a fabulously flowery and hearty affair, which is perfect for spring.
The CAL officially starts on 5 February 2025 and runs for six weeks. A new part of the pattern is released each Wednesday, along with accompanying video tutorials covering any new techniques. However, you can start and join in whenever works for you, and take as long as you like to complete the blanket.
The pattern is completely free and you can sign up to receive it here.
The suggested yarn (a DK acrylic yarn) can be bought in a kit here, which also comes with a crochet journal for keeping track of your CALs and a label for your blanket. Alternatively, as the pattern is provided separately, you could choose to make the blanket in whichever yarn you like.
For the community element, join this Facebook group for the CAL to share your progress and support other makers.

2. Attic24’s Canalboat Blanket CAL
Lucy of Attic24’s annual blanket CALs are events that crocheters around the world always look forward to.
Lucy’s patterns are well-known for being extremely beginner-friendly and easy-to-follow with lots of clear step-by-step photos to show you what to do. However, the main draw is probably Lucy’s amazing eye for creating eye-catching color combinations.
This year’s Canalboat Blanket certainly doesn’t disappoint.

You can find the free pattern for the blanket here.
The CAL started in January and the colors for each set of stripes are being released week-by-week throughout January and February. However, the pattern will always be available and you can join in and start whenever you like.
You can buy a yarn pack for the blanket in Lucy’s fabulous colors here.
Alternatively, why not raid you stash of DK yarn and see what color combinations you can come up with?
