The Waltz of the Flowers Blanket

The Waltz of the Flowers Blanket is made of hexagonal motifs that are joined-as-you-go to create a joyful expression of flowery love.

The motifs are made using tapestry crochet combined with front post stitches for added texture, making the blanket incredibly sumptuous.

The Waltz of the Flowers Blanket is made of textured tapestry crochet hexagons that are joined together as you go.

Half hexagons are made to straighten up the short edges of the blanket whilst the longer edges keep their relaxed zig-zag form.

You’ll love watching your blanket grow as you add more and more hexagons, and it can even keep you warm while you work on it!

The Pattern Details

Yarn

The Waltz of the Flowers Blanket was made with Scheepjes Scrumptious yarn, which is 50% recycled polyester (made from old plastic bottles!) and 50% acrylic. It’s a DK weight yarn with 300m per 100g ball.

I used these colours and amounts:

  • 4 balls of Butter Cream Icing (302)
  • 1 ball of Blueberry Chocolate Tart (361)
  • 2 balls of Concord Grape Pie (356)
  • 2 balls of Forest Fruit Pound Cake (354)
  • 2 balls of Pistachio Mafroukeh (344)

Alternative Yarns

You could substitute for another DK yarn or go up or down to a thicker (aran/worsted) or thinner (4 ply/fingering) yarn to create a larger or smaller blanket.

Hook

I used a 3.5 mm (size E) hook to make the blanket with the above yarn. If you use a different yarn weight, you should adjust your hook size accordingly.

Size

The finished blanket measured 125cm x 130cm.

You could easily adjust the size by making more/fewer hexagons or going up or down in yarn thickness as mentioned above.
